Where We’ve Been: A Quick Update from the Little Boola Team

It’s hard to believe our last update was all the way back in September. Life has a funny way of sweeping you up, and for us, the past few months have been a whirlwind—equal parts adventure, setbacks, determination, and creation.
Sometime mid-July, we found ourselves deep in North Luangwa National Park in Zambia… when our campervan quite literally decided it had had enough. One minute we were cruising through one of the most extraordinary wildlife regions in Africa, and the next we were broken down, stranded, and very aware that lions, hyenas, buffalo, and elephants were definitely not reading the “Do Not Disturb” sign.
What followed was an unforgettable chain of events: an improvised rescue out of the park; a long, bumpy recovery ride back to Lusaka; and then weeks—yes, weeks—in the capital waiting on not just an engine rebuild… but ultimately a full engine replacement. (At this point we could probably write a book called The Mechanics of Zambia: A Survival Guide.)
But here’s the part we’re most proud of:
While juggling breakdowns, logistics, and life on the road, we still managed to launch Book 4: The Baboons—a story full of mischief, heart, and the reminder that even in chaos, unexpected friendships can save the day. The irony of releasing a book about unpredictability while living through so much of our own was not lost on us. More importantly, Jennifer managed to complete the 10th and last book in the Lost in Africa series - can't wait to get them all illustrated and out to you! And despite being with our trusty campervan we managed to squeeze in some pretty exciting adventures along the way that we will share with you over the next few weeks as we bring you all up to date.
And now?
Our wheels are (finally!) rolling again, and we’re entering a brand-new chapter—one that takes us far beyond Africa. After months of preparation, planning, repairs, and more paperwork than anyone should ever have to complete, we’re getting ready to relocate to South America for the next phase of our travels and storytelling journey.
There’s a lot to catch you up on—new books, new adventures, new partnerships, and a very big year ahead for Little Boola Books. This is just the beginning of the updates we’ll be sharing over the coming weeks.
It feels good to be back.
And it feels even better to have you with us.
